Preparing for Oral Surgery

Will you be receiving oral surgery at our Round Rock, TX dental office soon?

You might be feeling concerned about your upcoming procedure, but there’s no need to worry. We’ve got you covered. Drs. Lewcock and Zavala will take care to make sure you are ready and provide you with specifics so you have a successful appointment.

There are a few simple steps you can take to feel ready and confident about your procedure, including:

1. If you have any questions or concerns about your procedure, let us know.

We want to make sure that all your worries are addressed and all your questions are answered. If something is on your mind, please tell us so we can give you the answers you need and deserve.

2. Stock your pantry and fridge.

Depending on which procedure you are planning, you might not be able to chew regular foods for a day or two. Having a selection of soft foods on hand will help. Good choices include protein shakes, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, lukewarm soups, and cream of wheat.

3. Line up a friend or family member to drive you to and from your appointment.

Have someone ready to go who can help you get home. If you have had a fairly extensive procedure or used sedation dentistry, have them stay with you for a while afterward so you can take it easy.

4. Talk to us about our sedation dentistry options.

Speaking of sedation dentistry….

Many people experience fear and anxiety when they are anticipating dental procedures, especially those that are surgical in nature like tooth extractions or implant placement. Sedation interventions can help you feel relaxed and calm throughout your appointment, help make the time feel like it’s passing by faster, and even reduce your memories of the appointment.
